The Humane Society of Ventura County is a compassionate care shelter and non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of animals in need throughout Ventura County.
Dear friends, earlier this month we kicked off two campaigns to help cover the cost of extensive surgeries for 2 dogs in our care, Mimi and Dodger. Since that time both dogs have had successful surgeries and are already in the process of recovering here at the shelter and in a foster home. The two surgeries combined have cost the shelter $7,238.65, and with the support of our community we have already raised $1,606 of this amount.
This year the Humane Society of Ventura County has been nominated for 3 categories in this years Best of the Ojai Valley put together by the Ojai Valley News. The HSVC is honored to have been nominated for Best Customer Service, Best Pet Food and Supply, and Best Nonprofit!

Madeline is a 19-year-old bay quarter horse mare that has been at the Humane Society of Ventura County since 2014 when she was rescued by our Humane Officer from a life of extreme neglect.
Ojai has been particularly hot for the past two months and the Humane Society of Ventura County has not been spared. The animals in the care of the HSVC have been looked after closely by the staff and volunteers during the extreme heat.
In the past few months we have asked for our communities support to help cover the medical bills and care for several dogs here at the shelter that have been in need of extensive veterinary care. The support from our community has surpassed our expectations and as a result we have been able to provide top quality care to the animals who rely on us for their wellbeing. Yet there is still more work to be done.
It's been a hot summer out here in Ojai. When it reaches over one hundred degrees it can be challenging to find ways to keep everyone cool here at the shelter. Fortunately we have the support of our amazing community who recently responded to a call out for help by gifting the shelter and our animals with supplies to get us through these hot summer months.
Thank you to everyone who has made a donation to Mimi's medical fund. Since we first kicked off the campaign last week, our supporters have already raised nearly one thousand dollars towards her surgery and care!
