The Humane Society of Ventura County is a compassionate care shelter and non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of animals in need throughout Ventura County.
The Humane Society of Ventura County sends a special thanks to Brad Smulson and Michael Smulson with Operation Blankets of Love for their delivery of donated blankets, food, toys and crates. Assistant Shelter Director Arlene MacSween was on hand for the delivery of supplies which filled a van. Also donated was a box of English/Spanish activity books to be used for children learning about the humane treatment of animals.
We are pleased to present our newly designed donation boxes and encourage any of our supporters who own a business or know of a business that would be interested in hosting a donation box to contact the Humane Society of Ventura County to learn more about how you can help. We have made hosting a donation box at your business as easy as possible with monthly pick ups by our friendly volunteers.
At least twice a week, Remi, Reid, and their mother Susan come to the Humane Society of Ventura County to spend time with the dogs and cats. This family of animal lovers started volunteering when their youngest turned 10 years old, “We just love the animals and it’s so much fun to come and volunteer here.” Remi and Reid enjoy spending time with the animals and often can’t wait to come again. Their enthusiasm to help these animals is contagious and can put a smile on anyone’s face.
We have wonderful news! In less then 4 weeks our community of supporters has raised over $7000 to cover the cost of extensive surgery for Mimi and Dodger, two deserving dogs in our care.
We are thrilled to announce that a $25,000 grant from the GlobalGiving Foundation was recently given to the Humane Society of Ventura County. These funds were used for the purchase of an all-important new horse stock trailer.
Just look at that smile! Handsome Jack is just two weeks shy of being being cleared for adoption after a successful recovery from surgery on a torn ACL. We know that many folks have shown interest in making Jack part of their family and encourage anyone still interested to contact the shelter at 805-646-6505 to make an appointment with our Kennel Manager Angela for an introduction!
Some of our biggest supporters are also our youngest. Just in time for back to school, we are giving away free piggy banks while supplies last!
Thank you Gianna! Gianna stopped by the shelter yesterday to drop off treats for the animals (and staff) that she purchased with money she raised from doing chores and helping to feed her neighbors rabbit.
