Happy Trails Sandy!

We are so happy for our girl Sandy who was adopted by Brandy and Frida from a Little Rescue last week! Sandy had been rescued by our Humane Officers back in July of 2016 when she was just a foal and has been at the shelter ever since. A Little Rescue is a nonprofit located in Thousand Oaks, and Brandy and Frida had met Sandy when they had to evacuate their horses during the recent fires.

It has been a long journey for Jack, but after 6 months since he was first brought to the Shelter, Jack has finally been given a fresh start with Robin and Alison!

We have a very special adoption story! Many of you may recognize Cally, who was recently featured on the cover of our Fall Paws for Thought Newsletter. Cally, was a very special cat here at the Humane Society of Ventura County and our longest animal resident.

Congratulations to nineteen year old Madeline, a beautiful bay quarter horse who was adopted over the weekend by Johnny, Rebecca, and Lucy!

Karma Update: 10 years!

Karma was adopted from The Humane Society of Ventura County 10 years ago! We recently received an update from her family and they sent us these amazing photos.

Rescue Horse Finds the Perfect Home!

Congratulations to Sadie Mae who was adopted by Courtney and her family this past Friday! Sadie Mae was originally brought to the shelter on September 9th, 2014 when she was seized in the field by our Humane Officers after being found in severely poor condition.

If you have visited the shelter anytime in the last 6 months then you probably recognize this guy! Benny was such a fun dog, always happy to see you, loved playing in water, enjoyed his walks with our volunteers, and always up for making friends with the other dogs here at the shelter.

A Happy Home For Sweet Pea!

It is always a special day here at the Humane Society of Ventura County when a horse gets adopted. Ten year old Sweet Pea, who was originally brought to the shelter by our Humane Officers as a case horse back in 2008 when she was just a year old, got a fresh start on life last week with Abigail!

Go Dodger!

Go Dodger! This sweet dog was found abandoned in Casitas Springs on the side of the road with just a bowl of food and water on April 3rd. He was brought to the Humane Society of Ventura County for safekeeping, and besides his sad circumstance Dodger transitioned into shelter life like a champ.

It has been a very good week for rescue horses at The Humane Society of Ventura County! Yesterday morning, 25 year old Dylan was adopted by Ruth to be a pasture buddy with two other senior horses on a lovely property with rolling hills and a stunning view of the countryside.
