The Humane Society of Ventura County is a compassionate care shelter and non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and adoption of animals in need throughout Ventura County.
The HSVC would like to give a shoutout to our amazing Clinic staff for reaching their goal of fixing over 100 cats in the month of January! According to Director of Veterinary Medicine Dr. Christina Sisk, this hefty goal was made possible thanks to our $25 January Feline Fix Promotion, Community Cat program, and spay/neuter fund. Great job Clinic staff!
In December of 2021, Humane Officers brought in two miniature horses, Shyann and Cecelia, from separate cases. Each horse had severely overgrown hooves and needed immediate care. After being examined by Veterinarian Dr. April Armstrong, we learned that both Shyann and Cecelia would need ongoing care and, unfortunately, long-term care. Over the past month and a half, our staff has gotten to know the spunky minis personalities and they have become beloved by all at the Shelter.

Talk about puppy love! The HSVC is excited to officially introduce mama Aria and her five adorable babies, Melody, Lyric, Rhythm, Harper, and Harmony. New mom Aria was surrendered to the HSVC as a stray in early January with her four friends after they were found roaming near Foster Park. The sweet Border Collie mix was full-term pregnant when she arrived and gave birth to her litter two days later.
Valentine’s Day is for lovers…animal lovers! Our animals show us unconditional love every day, and we think it’s time we returned the favor. The HSVC would like to extend a huge thank you to all who donated pet food for our furry friends via our Wishlists! We were blown away by the generosity of our community and are thrilled to share we received 120 cases of puppy and dog food, that’s 1440 cans total! The Shelter is now fully stocked and ready to spoil our pups!
