Registration for HSVC's Summer Camp is Now Open!

Registration for HSVC's youth Summer Camp is now open! These camps are intended to inspire youth to become socially responsible for the environment, animals, and people in our community. Campers will learn more about how to care for local domestic and wildlife animals and explore ideas of community wellness through collaboration and critical thinking. With special guests like VCAS Bunny Brigade and the Moorpark Teaching Zoo, you don't want your child to miss this opportunity!

HSVC Spreads the Puppy Love

   We had so much fun at the Puppy Love Concert on Saturday! Many gathered by the fountain in Libbey Park to enjoy outstanding vocal performances and meet our three adoptable pups. Seeing Camila, Sonny, and Pebbles outside of the shelter and interacting with so many people in our community was such a treat. Thank you to The Voice Studio LA for hosting such a wonderful event!

Join us on Saturday, May 13th from 9 am - 12 pm at First Baptist Church of El Rio (2857 Cortex St. Oxnard, CA) to get FREE vaccines for your furry friends. No appointment necessary. First come first served while supplies last! We are offering: FREE FVRCP (upper respiratory) vaccines for cats FREE DHPP (distemper/parvo) vaccines for dogs $5 Rabies vaccines (proof of Rabies vaccination required to receive 3-year certificate of vaccination) All animals MUST be on a leash or in a carrier. Eventful Weekend for HSVC!

   The HSVC had an eventful weekend participating in not one, but two events this past Saturday! Thank you to our friends at Boat Specialists for hosting us as part of their annual Boat Show and Tent Sale. Boat Specialists also had several of their vendors put out tip jars at their booths with all proceeds going to the shelter. We appreciate the support!

Loma Vista Students Visit HSVC

   Our staff had so much fun hosting 60 second graders from Loma Vista Elementary School last week! The students spent a lovely day at the shelter learning how to properly care for their pets and about all the amazing resources the HSVC offers our community. Each group got a tour of the shelter led by a member of our staff and got the chance to interact with our shelter animals. What a fun way to spend a school day!

Thank You to The Wharf!

The Wharf is not only a pet food supplier to the shelter but also generously donates surplus pet food for our Pet Pantry program. This surplus food gets distributed to other organizations and to the community through our Pet Pantry program serving all of Ventura County.

The Canine Messenger Hosts Volunteer Training

   A big thank you goes out to Tracy Vail of The Canine Messenger for coming to the shelter and hosting a training for our volunteers! The volunteers learned a variety of skills during their 3-hour training including how to go on a pack walk, how to train a dog in the agility yard, and proper kennel conduct. This type of training is vital to helping our shelter pups learn their manners before finding their forever homes.
