Love Is Blind: Yodie’s Journey to Forever Family

Yodie may see the world a little differently, but that never stopped the blind pup from believing his person was out there. We're thrilled to share that not only was he right, but his adoption success story is now one of our absolute favorites! He's now getting the love he deserves thanks to Cambria, Nathaniel, and his furry brother, Ralphie.

Formerly named Noah, the 3-year-old mixed-breed was brought to HSVC as a stray in August of 2025. He arrived fully blind, with both eyes severely affected by congenital abnormalities, including cataracts and glaucoma. After weighing all possible treatment options, our shelter veterinarians decided it was in Yodie's best interest to remove the source of discomfort altogether. Bruised slightly but in high spirits, Yodie was then placed in foster care while he recovered from his surgery.

As a dog with special needs, Yodie required a home with owners who could provide kindness, consistency, and patience while he learned how to navigate his surroundings. Several parties showed interest, and though each home had a lot of love for Yodie, it never seemed to be the right fit for the sweet pup.

That all changed when Cambria and Nathaniel reached out to learn more about Yodie. With the help of our animal care staff, the couple met Yodie at the shelter, formed a bond, and took the leap to bring him home as a foster-to-adopt dog. The selling point? Seeing how well Yodie got along with their first fur baby, Ralphie (above), who is also blind!

According to Cambria, Yodie has settled into his new life seamlessly. He's learning to be brave when meeting new people and has made great progress with his resource guarding, proving that sometimes a change of environment is all it takes to help a dog reach their full potential.

"He does wonderfully with little kids and is an amazing road trip dog. He is a special boy, and we feel very lucky to love the little goofy fella that he is!" said Cambria.

We see a long life full of cozy naps, outdoor adventures, and endless love in this boy's future. Thank you, Cambria and Nathaniel, for showing Yodie that he is worthy of love and for inspiring others to take a chance on the animals who continue to be overlooked. Congratulations on adding the missing piece to your family!
