Learning, Leading, and Connecting at the Animal Welfare Philanthropy Summit

Last week, two members of the Humane Society of Ventura County’s Development team attended the 2nd Annual Animal Welfare Philanthropy Summit, hosted by San Diego Humane Society. The three-day gathering brought together animal welfare professionals from across the country to share ideas and strengthen their collective impact for animals in need. Attendees enjoyed engaging workshops led by philanthropy experts in animal welfare. With topics ranging from donor engagement and stewardship to utilizing AI to engage with audiences, it was a week fueled by learning opportunities and connection.
Beyond the sessions themselves, the summit reinforced the importance of collaboration within the animal welfare community. HSVC's Director of Development, Amber Landis, and Media & Marketing Manager, Amy King, had the opportunity to learn from peer organizations facing similar challenges and celebrating similar wins. Sharing these real-world experiences inspired new ideas to achieve our collective goal of creating a more compassionate world for animals. San Diego Humane offers this special training at no cost to attendees due to the generous support of their sponsors.
As a private, nonprofit organization, HSVC does not receive any funding from the city, county, or state government. We rely entirely on donations from our animal-loving community. Thanks to their support, we have provided vital programs and services to Ventura County for 94 years and counting. As the number of animals that need our help increases, so does the need for philanthropy and awareness. The insights gained at the Animal Welfare Philanthropy Summit will help guide and strengthen HSVC’s development efforts. We’re grateful to San Diego Humane Society for hosting such a thoughtful and impactful event, and for creating space for animal welfare professionals to learn, connect, and grow together!
