Rusty’s Ready to Fetch Your Heart!

Goofy, gorgeous, and grinning from ear to ear, say hello to Rusty, a 1-year-old German Shepherd who's been lighting up the shelter with his big personality, infectious energy, and even bigger heart. For the past 100 days, Rusty has patiently been waiting to find his forever family, dreaming of a loving home where he can be showered with love, enjoy playtime, and embark on new adventures. In the meantime, he's been busy stealing more than a few tennis balls (and hearts) along the way. Rusty truly is the full adventure package. He’s playful, energetic, and always eager to turn any ordinary day into a fun-filled escapade. Whether he's chasing after a ball, sprinting across a field for the joy of running, or clowning around to get a laugh, Rusty lives life with his tail wagging vigorously and his tongue floppy.

Don’t be fooled by his silly streak! Good boy Rusty has the sharp, intelligent mind of a typical German Shepherd, along with a heart full of love and a desire to please. Rusty is quick to learn, eager to pick up new tricks, and always ready to showcase his intelligence, although he may get a little distracted by his dog friends. Think of him as your perfect hiking buddy, running partner, or co-pilot for all of life’s everyday adventures. However, be prepared for plenty of zoomies, tail-wagging excitement, and silly antics in between. Staff think Rusty bears a charming resemblance to Scooby-Doo, with his lovable, cartoonish face and expressive eyes. What Rusty truly needs now is a vibrant, loving home as lively and warm as he is! He's hoping to find a family with active humans who love the outdoors, don’t mind a little drool or a messy paw print now and then, and appreciate a goofy, lovable four-legged friend. He’s searching for that special place where he can become a cherished member of the family, showered with love, patience, and endless affection.

Are you ready to meet a dog who’ll keep you laughing and teach you the pure magic of unconditional love? Visit Rusty at the shelter located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai. HSVC is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 am to 4:30 pm. Trust us, you’ll know him when you see him. He’s the one with the biggest, brightest grin, ready to steal your heart. Come meet him, fall in love, and give him the forever home he dreams of! Included with every dog adoption will be the first DHPP shot of the series (if age allows), a rabies vaccine (if age allows), a wellness check good for up to three days from participating veterinarians, implanting an identification microchip with registration, spay or neuter surgery, if necessary, as well as a collar, ID tag, and a leash.
