Reese is Ready to Squeak Her Pig All the Way Home!

If you've been waiting for a sign to adopt your new best friend, here it is! Reese is a 3-year-old Australian Shepherd mix who was transferred to us from Woods Humane Society and has been at the shelter for nearly 300 days. That's 300 mornings of wagging her tail after seeing her friends, 300 afternoons of carrying around her loyal squeaky pig toy like it's a priceless treasure, and 300 evenings of curling up after a good session of fetch. This girl is sweet, silly, and just the right mix of energy and calm. As much as she enjoys being around her shelter friends, Reese is ready to find a family of her own to give her the peace and love she deserves.

Goofy and playful, Reese is the kind of dog who lives for fetch. She'll run, retrieve, and even drop the ball on command like a total pro. When the toys are ready to be put away, she's more than happy to curl up and recharge with a nap or snuggle as long as her trusty pig is by her side. Wherever Reese goes, you'll probably hear the signature squeak of her sidekick not far behind. At first, Reese can be a little shy with new people, but with a bit of patience, her little wiggle butt and goofy grin will win you over. Once she feels safe, she's all about affection and snuggles. Reese can be selective around other dogs, but she's done well in playgroups here at the shelter. Staff believe that with the proper introduction, she may enjoy having a canine buddy.
Reese has been so patient, but it's time for her to finally start her forever chapter. She deserves endless adventures, fetch in the backyard, squeaky pig parades through the living room, and naps next to the people she loves the most. Meet Reese at the Humane Society of Ventura County, located at 402 Bryant Street in Ojai, anytime Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 4:30 pm. She will be the one trotting around proudly with her loyal squeaky pig. You might discover she’s the missing piece to your family's puzzle!
Included with every dog adoption is the first DHPP shot of the series (if age allows), a rabies vaccine (if age allows), a wellness check good for up to three days from participating veterinarians, implanting an identification microchip with registration, spay or neuter surgery (if necessary), as well as a collar, ID tag, and a leash.
Reminder! HSVC is celebrating Clear the Shelter this August, joining hundreds of shelters nationwide to help pets find their forever homes. From August 1st to August 31st, adoption fees will be determined by our Wheel of Adoption, back by popular demand! Those looking to adopt can spin the wheel and take home their new furry family member for a reduced adoption fee. Fees range from $10 to half-price, and all dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens are eligible! Excludes horses.
As if our "spin the wheel" adoption promotion wasn't enough fun, there's more! To help as many pets as possible start their next chapter, we're offering FEE-WAIVED ADOPTIONS on Saturday, August 23rd, from 10 am to 4:30 pm. Enjoy free giveaways, kids crafts, HSVC swag, sweet treats, and information about all things HSVC. All are invited to join us at the shelter, located at 402 Bryant St. in Ojai, to participate in the fun! We'll see you there!
