ABOUT
Kira's Happily Ever After

Some dogs may wait a little longer for their forever home, but when they find it, it's clear it was meant to be. Kira (formerly Shakira) arrived at the Humane Society of Ventura County in September 2024 through our Humane Officers, bringing along her eight puppies. A devoted mama, she made sure her pups were safe, healthy, and ready for their next chapter. Once they became available, all eight puppies were quickly adopted into loving homes, while Kira patiently stayed behind, waiting for her own turn.

During her time here at the shelter, Kira proved to be a playful yet gentle, energetic gal who was also perfectly content with curling up for long naps at your feet. She loved chasing tennis balls in the play yards and prospered with the our trusted handlers. Though she was reserved at first, those who took the time to get to know Kira quickly saw her affectionate, loyal nature shine through. Our staff anxiously waited for a time when they could see Kira thriving not just in the shelter, but in a forever home of her own.
That long-awaited moment finally came in early April 2025, when Kira was adopted by Catherine and began the life she was meant for. Now living her best life at Rancho de Granville, a beautiful host property for Hipcamp, Kira has effortlessly settled into her surroundings. She's always close by her mom's side, happily greeting guests as they arrive and soaking up all the love and attention she can get. She enjoys watching the birds, lives peacefully alongside chickens and horses, and has embraced her role as both a loyal companion and a welcoming presence on the property.
From a devoted shelter mama to a confident ranch dog, Kira's journey is a powerful reminder that sometimes the best things are worth waiting for. We're so grateful to Catherine for giving Kira the loving home she deserves and for giving this special girl the chance to truly live her happily ever after.
