ABOUT
K. King
Director of Field Operations

Kendra King has been part of the Humane Society of Ventura County family since August 2014, when she first joined as an Adoption Counselor. A lifelong animal lover, she always knew her career would center around protecting animals and strengthening the bond between pets and people.
After studying anthropology and criminal justice at Ventura College, Kendra pursued her passion through extensive training to become a Humane Officer. She completed the Animal Law Enforcement Academy at the San Diego Humane Society in 2015 and was proudly sworn in by Judge Henry Walsh at the Ventura County Courthouse the following year. Since then, she has continued to expand her expertise, completing advanced training in California animal laws, investigations, disaster response, and animal cruelty prevention. In 2018, she graduated from the Advanced Animal Law Enforcement Academy at Marin Humane.
Kendra has played a key role in strengthening the shelter’s emergency response programs. In 2020, she created HSVC’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), a dedicated group of volunteers trained to assist with animal care and intake during emergencies. She developed VC HART (Ventura County Humane Animal Rescue Team), a staff-led team trained to respond in natural disasters, evacuating and transporting animals in times of crisis.
Her leadership and dedication have been recognized with several promotions: Senior Humane Officer in 2021 and Humane Investigations Director in 2023. In 2025, her title was changed to Director of Field Operations to better reflect her diverse portfolio of programs. Today, Kendra oversees the Investigations Department, serves as HSVC’s liaison with local and county agencies, and leads the organization’s disaster relief efforts. She is also a proud graduate of the Ventura County Leadership Academy (VCLA), serves on the VC VOAD Executive Committee, and previously served four and a half years on the board of Reins of H.O.P.E.
Kendra is a Ventura County native who grew up riding horses and surfing. She still loves horseback riding today and enjoys spending time with her own horse, Levi. Above all, she is proud to serve as a strong voice for animals in need and to support the people in her community who love and care for them.
