Jazmine's Journey to Forever Home

From expecting mama to forever home! Congratulations to 11-year-old Jazmine on finally finding her happily-ever-after with Ciara. She and her family were searching for a new companion for their 23-year-old male horse after they lost their beloved pony. Jasmine was the missing piece they were looking for!
Jazmine, a gorgeous Quarterhorse, came to HSVC in April 2025 as one of eight pregnant mares at risk of euthanasia in Riverside County. Thankfully, a kindhearted person helped the mare make her way to safety at our shelter, where she soon gave birth to her handsome colt, Abu in mid-May. Over the next six months, Jazmine thrived in her role as a mama. Her guidance, along with the assistance of our equine staff and volunteers, helped Abu blossom into a sweet, healthy horse. He was lucky enough to be adopted by HSVC's own equine manager, Christina, who had been caring for him since the day he was born.

Shortly after Abu was adopted, Jasmine began the search for a family of her own. Ciara and her family reached out to Christina, looking for a friendly horse to complement their own senior horse. They came to Ojai to meet Jazmine in person and immediately took her in as a foster-to-adopt horse. However, within just a few days, Jazmine captured the hearts of her foster family, and they quickly opted to make her a permanent member of their herd. We couldn't be happier! Congratulations, and happy tails, Jasmine!
