The Humane Society of Ventura County recently had the pleasure of welcoming a wonderful group from 805 Connects for a morning full of creativity, connection, and plenty of smiles. 805 Connects is an organization dedicated to providing inclusive social recreation and community engagement opportunities for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Their mission centers around creating spaces where participants can build friendships, try new activities, and stay connected with their community.

During their visit to the shelter, the group enjoyed a fun lineup of activities designed to spark creativity and bring everyone together. Participants rolled up their sleeves to make handcrafted bird feeders, a perfect way to support local wildlife while enjoying a relaxing craft project. The creativity on display was inspiring, and everyone had a great time designing their feeders. The fun didn't stop there! The group also gathered for a lively game of bingo, where laughter and friendly competition filled the room.

Of course, no visit to HSVC would be complete without meeting some of our furry residents. The group had the chance to spend time with Andy, a playful 7-month-old Husky mix currently looking for his forever home. Andy quickly became a favorite, charming everyone with his puppy energy and sweet personality.

Moments like these remind us that the shelter is more than just a place for animals waiting for homes. It's also a place where the community can come together, learn, and share meaningful experiences. We're so grateful to the wonderful group from 805 Connects for spending part of their day with us. Their visit brought so much joy to the shelter, and we hope to see them again soon for more crafts, games, and animal meet-and-greets!
