Baja’s Next Chapter: A Forever Home

If you've been following Baja's journey, this update might be your favorite one yet. After being by Baja's side from the very beginning, through travel, surgery, recovery, and continuous care, HSVC's Lead Vet Tech, Samantha Velasquez, has officially adopted Baja! What started as a stint in foster care quickly grew into a deep bond, solidifying Sam's place as Baja's person. We're so grateful this pair found each other!

From day one in Sam's home, Baja made it known where she felt safest. She followed Sam everywhere, soaking up every bit of comfort and reassurance. Even after her surgery, Baja's resilient spirit shone through. Her energy bounced back quickly, and she made sure to return the love she received with plenty of kisses and affection for the person who never left her side.
As Baja healed, her progress was nothing short of remarkable. Her incision healed beautifully, her strength returned, and she continued to thrive with each passing day. One of the sweetest moments came when Baja claimed the very carrier she traveled in from Mexico that is now tucked under Sam's desk as one of her safe spaces. To this day, she curls up inside for the occasional nap, a quiet reminder of just how far she's come.

Baja's world has grown even bigger with having doggie siblings who keep her busy with playtime, companionship, and plenty of fun. She has also gained healthy weight since her days in Mexico and looks stronger and happier than ever.
From an abandoned puppy with life-threatening injuries to a beloved family member surrounded by love, Baja's journey is a powerful reminder of what compassion, commitment, and second chances can accomplish. We couldn't be more grateful to Sam for stepping up, staying the course, and giving Baja the forever home she deserves, and to the clinic team for giving Baja a second chance at life. Thank you to everyone who followed Baja's story and supported her care. Because of you, this brave girl's story is just beginning.
