Angie Chupek Sagliani, a former classroom teacher joins, the Humane Society of Ventura County. She will take on the role of humane educator and promote the shelter’s mission of providing more education about how to care for animals in our local community.

Angie has been in the field of education for more than a decade. She studied performing arts at UC Irvine and then later received credentials to be a multiple-subject teacher from CA State University Los Angeles and a Humane Education Practitioner (HEP) certification from the Institute of Human-Animal Connection at the University of Denver.

She figured out two things at an early age, she wanted to work with animals and she wanted to perform. The stars aligned when she moved to Ventura County and landed the role of a lifetime, a Humane Educator at HSVC. She started working in February of 2020 and spent most of her time working on virtual learning and professional development to help create a new humane education youth program that focuses on being compassionate animal neighbors.

She plans on bringing a “sparkle” to the curriculum by adding more dance, improvisation, puppets, and visual art. She also plans to use movement to help students learn about empathy, animal communication, and how to be more kind to all living beings.
